Summer is prime reading time. People are out of school, on vacation, by the pool, or maybe just staying inside where it's cool, and they're toting a book with them. Publishers schedule publication dates in April, May and early June to take advantage of readers hoping to pick up a book to take on vacation. These are the books that you see at the airport, the pool, your friend's house, and on social media. Everyone is talking about them. Every book club is reading them. Maybe you're reading it too, so you know what everyone else is talking about.
Past books of the summer include Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin in 2022; Crook Manifesto by Colson Whitehead and Happy Place by Emily Henry in 2023; and God of the Woods by Liz Moore in 2024.
