SOCIAL SERVICES

DID YOU KNOW

Fulton County Library System partners with over 30 organizations in the Metro-Atlanta area that provide various types of social services support. The Social Services team offers short-term assistance to connect patrons to longer-term support.  Through partnerships with local community agencies, we can assist by providing referrals to additional outreach services which may include Veteran services, government benefit assistance, domestic violence referrals, immigration services, substance abuse resources, shelter and housing resources, medical and mental health referrals, vaccine events, obtaining identification, and legal services.

Direct services include:

  • Make referrals to community partners to address patron’s needs.
  • Provide a range of resource lists and/or do basic online searches for specific services.
  • Make phone calls to community partners with the patron, if needed.
  • Consult and coordinate with patron’s case managers and other providers on behalf of patrons.
  • Assist patrons with applying for public benefits such as state health plans or other subsidized programs.

Referral-based support include:

  • Refer patrons to Social Security Administrative offices or agencies/attorneys who assist with applying for Social Security benefits.
  • Refer patrons to the appropriate employment agencies for job opportunities.
  • Refer patrons to the appropriate shelter and housing agency.
  • Refer to library staff to make a learning lab appointment for tech help.
  • Refer to legal aid organizations.
