By attempting to quantify topics such as money, law and government, these topics can be understand from a new perspective. These can range from highly practical to purely theoretical simulations. The Dewey decimal system draws a distinction between purely historical subjects and fields such as economics (330). Economics as an example has aspects of history but is its own evolving field of study, often using novel methods of analysis that draw from of fields in science.
