America's Test Kitchen team excels in making cooking attractive to kids and teens. All recipes have been tested by 750 children and their feedback has helped pick the final recipes. The book is very well organized and each recipe has a rating for the level of difficulty, the appliances and tools that will be used, prep time, cook time and the number of portions. Brief testimonials from the kids in the test group accompany each recipe.

Young chefs are introduced to kitchen terminology with description of the meaning of each word as well as detailed safety instructions and techniques. Color pictures teach the kids how to measure dry and liquid ingredients, how to safely cut, chop, mince, and grate and, most importantly, how to have fun. The authors have included a conversion table, recipe stats with nutrition values, MyPlate guide (identifies daily meal proportions for the fruit, vegetable, grains, protein, and dairy food groups) and an alphabetical index.

Recipes are grouped in chapters for breakfast, cooking for one person, cooking for family & friends, sides and desserts. The book is available for download in our Overdrive digital collection. I liked the book because it is very well organized, instructions are clear and easy to follow and the meals look delicious. I also learnt several new cooking tricks and filled some gaps in my cooking experience.
