Central Artist Corner presents Billy Clifton-Strawn

"Central Artist Corner presents Pixels at Play, a mixed-media exhibition by Billy Clifton-Strawn. On display at Central Library June 8, 2026 through September 8, 2026."Artist Statement:

"Pixels at Play is about what can happen when I treat digital media as something flexible and alive. I begin with photography and digital painting, but the work quickly moves beyond documentation. I layer, distort, and recompose pixels until they feel less like data and more like gestures. What starts as an image becomes something expressive, intuitive, and human. Color drives much of this process. I am drawn to the way color can carry emotion without explanation. Shapes shift between clarity and abstraction. Forms appear, dissolve, and reassemble. I am interested in that space between structure and spontaneity, where the work feels balanced but still in motion. In this exhibition, the digital image does not stay confined to a screen. It expands into projections, framed prints, illuminated surfaces, and textile forms. Moving across formats allows the work to exist as both image and object. I want viewers to encounter digital, art not as something distant or purely technological, but as something tactile, immersive, and accessible. Play is central to this project. Play invites curiosity. It lowers barriers. It allows people to enter the work without needing specialized knowledge. Through color and rhythm, I hope to create moments of discovery that feel open and welcoming. Ultimately, Pixels at Play reflects my commitment to bringing contemporary digital art into civic spaces where it can be experienced by diverse audiences. I want the work to feel inviting, energetic, and shared. If the exhibition encourages someone to pause, look a little longer, or see digital imagery in a new way, then it has done its job."
