Central Artist Corner presents Trinity Jackson

About Trinity:

Trinity Jackson is a photographer and mixed media visual artist who is a Wesleyan College graduate with a Bachelor’s of Art in Studio Art. Jackson's work centers on themes related to African American experiences, women's rights, politics, and social issues. Her current photography series, "Lost Girls," focuses on the prevalence of missing Black women and girls. This series of photographs and collages highlights the media's neglect regarding the disappearances of these individuals. These important topics resonate deeply with Jackson, who aims to draw attention to the overlooked, hidden, and undervalued stories of people of color in the media. She expresses her unspoken words through her art, amplifying the voices and perspectives of African American women and girls. Using dramatic lighting, Jackson creates a ghostly effect that emphasizes the times of day—often early morning or night—when these disappearances occur. Her mixed media collages serve as a metaphor for peeling back layers to reveal the truth behind the missing.

Jackson has been influenced by contemporary artists such as Charly Palmer, Etienne Jackson, Deanna Lawson, Tyler Mitchell, Gregory Crewdson, and Kara Walker. Jackson has shown her work in several prestigious venues throughout the Atlanta Metropolitan Area, including the High Museum of Art, the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, Teaching Museum South, the Fulton County Government Center, the Southwest Arts Center, the South Fulton Arts Center, and the Aviation Community Cultural Center. Additionally, she has received numerous awards, including: - 2nd place in the Visual Arts Category at The Society National Arts Competition (2020) - A gold medal in drawing and painting from NAACP-ACTso (2020) - A bronze medal at the ACTS competition (2019) - 1st place in the 14th Annual Kevin Cole South Fulton County High School Art Competition & Exhibition (2019) - A Blue Ribbon in the National Arts Program in the Youth category, along with the People's Choice Award (2018) - 1st place in the Visual Arts category for the South Fulton Council PTA Reflections (2019) - Winner of the July month feature in the Fulton County Government Water Resource Division Art Calendar (2017) Her achievements reflect her talent and dedication to the arts.
