CRAFTernoon – March: 3-Line Landscape

Calling all tweens and teens ages 10–17! Join us for CRAFTernoon at the Milton Library one Saturday each month for an hour of fun, hands-on art and craft projects. No experience needed—just bring your imagination! We explore a variety of mediums like watercolors, acrylics, oil pastels, clay, and even paper quilling. Each month is a new adventure in creativity. Registration is required, and all skill levels are welcome!

March’s CRAFTernoon program featured the “3-Line Landscape” activity. With just three simple lines, participants discovered they could create the foundation for an endless variety of landscapes.

They were shown two examples (first two images below ⇓) to spark inspiration: one divided into four quadrants, each showcasing a different color-block landscape, and another using the full page to create a single, more-detailed scene with shading and depth. Students could choose between designing four mini landscapes or focusing on one larger composition.

After lightly sketching their three lines in pencil, they brought their scenes to life with colored pencils, adding vibrant color and creative details. The results were as unique as each artist!
