Registration is required, and all skill levels are welcome!

October’s CRAFTernoon art program had our young artists soaring into the season with a project that was out of this world—literally! With the crisp air and pumpkin-spiced vibes setting the tone, our crafty crew gathered to create a moonlit masterpiece featuring glowing moons, twilight skies, and a flutter of mysterious bats.

The first step? Creating the perfect enchanted moon using oil pastels! Armed with varying shades of blues and bold white, the kids learned how to blend and layer their pastels to create the soft, glowing aura of a full moon. The textured pastels gave the artwork a beautiful, luminous feel—like the moon was truly glowing in the night sky.

But no moon is complete without a little bit of mystery, right? To bring their scenes to life, each child folded black cardstock bats with precision, adhering them in a 3-dimensional flight path across their page. These playful bats appeared to float right off the paper, adding that extra bit of magical motion to their moonlit skies.

By the end of the session, each artist had crafted their own glowing masterpiece, blending color, creativity, and just the right touch of October charm. Whether flying toward the moon or gliding through the shadows, these bat-filled nightscapes were a magical way to welcome the fall season.

If you missed out on this month’s CRAFTernoon, don’t worry—more creative adventures await! Who knows what whimsical wonders we’ll explore next?

Until then, keep crafting, keep dreaming, and keep flying high—just like those bats under the moon!
