CRAFTernoon – September: Acrylic Flowers

Calling all tweens and teens ages 10–17! Join us for CRAFTernoon at the Milton Library one Saturday each month for an hour of fun, hands-on art and craft projects. No experience needed—just bring your imagination! We explore a variety of mediums like watercolors, acrylics, oil pastels, clay, and even paper quilling. Each month is a new adventure in creativity. Registration is required, and all skill levels are welcome!

September's program was a blast as we got creative with paintbrush alternatives! Instead of traditional brushes, we grabbed plastic baggies and Q-tips to add a fun twist to our canvas creations. The star of the show? The flowers! We made the petals using a gallon-sized plastic bag. Here’s the trick: tie a knot in one corner, flip it inside out, inflate it like a balloon, and tie the other side closed. The knot you tied becomes the center of the flower! Then, paint the bag around the center with the paint color of your choice, press it onto the canvas, and voila—flower power!

I love the way tweens & teens don't feel constrained by the example and have the confidence to do their own thing!
