Last Tuesday, the CreativX Lab focused on music production, particularly how to create music with AI. Before they started, Shana Sanders, the founder, discussed music production with the teens and how AI has changed the industry. Using AI can be an advantage, as the teens can get a head start on producing music.
Under the guidance of their instructors, the teens learn how to use
Suno, an AI music production platform. With access to a wide range of beats and vocals, the teens were free to create whatever song they wanted. For this workshop, however, the participants were specifically tasked with generating a song that told their story. The teens just needed to do two things: create their lyrics and find a beat. Creating the songs served as a learning experience on how to use AI and an introduction to produce music for themselves.
Once they were finished, they presented their songs in the recording studio at the Best Buy Teen Tech Center. Bursting with inspiration and melody, everyone got a chance to share a little bit about themselves through their songs. Their songs about friendships, school, and their dreams showed what they value in life. Given a taste of what they can do, many teens left inspired to see what songs they can create next.
