January 2026 is finally here! Those of us at the Fulton County Library System are proud to welcome you to The Year of the Book.
What is it all about? Well, The Year of the Book will highlight all things literary; spark a more literate community; and lead all of us on a journey of discovery and appreciation of the written word, as well as the Library System’s digital resource offerings.
All offerings will focus on increased and improved programs; author visits and talks; and partnerships with outside entities, especially schools. You will also have the chance to meet new and interesting people who will stop by and visit with us. Our signature programs, such as One Book, One Read and the Summer Reading Program, will still be presented.
Literacy for all ages will be of great focus, with special programs for seniors and for grandparents who are raising grandchildren.
The plan is to go all out for one entire year, paying homage to reading, learning, and self-improvement You will have the opportunity to dive into classical literature; award winning books for all ages; and a chance to gain more knowledge of cooking; design; decorating; gardening; and other fun things that may interest you and provide a hobby to keep you busy as we navigate this year. Maybe you will find new books to read on the beach, and vacation planning tips as you investigate travel opportunities while visiting your local Fulton County Library.
Staff are excited about this new 2026 theme, The Year of the Book; so much so, they want to get an even earlier start on planning 2027. Let’s have some fun!!!
