Artist Statement:

"My practice as a visual artist is rooted in the intersections of tradition and innovation. Working in mixed media, I bring together painting, photography, and digital technology to create layered works that challenge boundaries and invite new ways of seeing. As both an artist and an educator in art and technology, I have long been fascinated by the possibilities that emerge when creative expression meets innovation. Teaching has reinforced my belief that art and tech are not opposing forces, but collaborators capable of expanding how we tell stories, preserve histories, and imagine futures. In my work, I merge analog and digital processes to reflect on identity, culture, and memory, while also pushing the conversation about how technology shapes our human experience. Each piece becomes an experiment in balance between heritage and progress, between tradition and disruption. By blending media, I aim to create work that resonates across generations and speaks to the ways we navigate our increasingly hybrid world."

Carlita's work will be on display in the 1st floor art studio A from February 17 through May 18, 2026.
