Learn HERstory with the Digital Library

This month the Digital Library at Fulton County is continuing to celebrate the Year of the Book by honoring the histories, contributions, and stories of women worldwide. Women's History Month is celebrated annually in March, but I think it is important to acknowledge and celebrate women's contributions to history throughout the year! This year celebrate with us at the Digital Library by learning about women's history via our free e-resources.

Learn about women's history through video with Access Video on Demand! You can watch thousands of videos about prominent figures in women's history such Donyale Luna, the first Black model to be featured on the cover of both Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. Or check out videos about significant and impactful moments in women's history such as Daring Women Doctors, which discusses the hidden history of women physicians in the 19th century.

Celebrate WHM by exploring the Women's History film collection on Kanopy! The collection has films with women in lead roles such as I, Tonya as well as films that are directed by women such as The Watermelon Woman. Kanopy offers a large collection of acclaimed movies and documentaries on-demand from award-winning filmmakers. You can access a number of tickets for free with your Fulton County Library card and the tickets reset at the 1st of the month.

Read stories about and/or written by women in the "Celebrate Her Story: Women's History Month Collection on our new app the Palace Project! Read about the life and adventures of Pirate Queen Zheng Yi Sao or listen to Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez story in her own words! The Palace Project is available as an app on both Apple and Android devices. Looking for more to reading recs to add to your own TBR list?
