American Dirt, by Jeanine Cummins
By Todd Williamson, Milton Branch Manager
I just finished American Dirt. I thought it was very thought-provoking, thrilling, and at times very sad to read.
This Is Just My Face, by Gabourey Sidibe
By Aaron Brown, Youth Services Librarian
I read This Is Just My Face, by Gabourey Sidibe. It's a very funny and real autobiography.
Polio: An American Story, by David Oshinsky
Becky Kennedy, ILL Librarian
I am reading the ebook version of Polio: An American Story, by David Oshinsky, published in 2005. My mother used to tell stories about polio outbreaks when she was a little girl, so I was interested in the subject. The book covers the history of the fight against polio in the U.S. and the discovery of the vaccine. It also talks about the fear people had about polio, something really timely now that we are dealing with coronavirus. I'm enjoying the book even though the subject can be difficult. I recommend it.
