This year National Mustard Day is August 2, 2025.
The Ancient Egyptians may have been the first to use it for medicine and as a spice. Then the Ancient Greeks and the Romans used it for flavor and as a herbal remedy. ("National Mustard Day," 2025)
In the early 1800s, the British industrialized the production of mustard. In 1904, modern yellow mustard was put with a hot dog in Rochester, New York and became popular around the USA. 71% of people surveyed by the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council prefer mustard as their condiment for hot dogs. ("National Mustard Day," 2025)
Mustard is good for health. Elements in mustard seeds can stop cancer growth. It can also be a remedy for muscle pain and some skin disorders.
Besides hot dogs, you can put mustard or honey mustard on French fries, ham, potatoes and other foods.
Have some mustard on National Mustard Day, August 2nd.
