The Georgia General Assembly has been continuously in operation since 1776. Although the form of this state legislative body has changed over the years, there are 10 different editions of the constitution, the role it serves for Georgia has remained unchanged. They currently met in the Georgia State Capitol building in the capital of Georgia, Atlanta. The general assembly is bicameral, meaning that it has two branches, these are the House of Representatives and the Senate.  Each chamber meets in their own hall of the capitol building. There are House has 180 members each representing a district, with members serving a two-year term. The Senate has 56 members representing 56 districts, also serving a two-year term. There are no term limits. You can search your address here to find your legislators.
