Welcome to The Year of the Book
The Year of the Book campaign celebrates the power of reading to connect, inspire, and transform lives. Throughout 2026, Fulton County Library System will create community through shared stories and reading experiences, bringing us together. Through stories. Ideas. And Discovery.
Explore the exciting and fresh events at a library near you, along with some surprises along the way.
The Year of the Book is a yearlong, systemwide celebration of reading across all 34 Fulton County Library locations. Each month features a shared theme designed to spark curiosity, conversation, and connection through books.
Patrons can participate in a variety of ways. Read titles that match the monthly theme, attend special programs and events, explore book displays, or join reading challenges offered in person and online. Every library will bring the theme to life in its own way, making each experience unique while staying connected to a larger, countywide celebration.
Everyone is invited. The Year of the Book is for readers of all ages and all reading styles. Whether you are a lifelong book lover, a casual reader, or just getting started, there is a place for you in this celebration.
The Year of the Book takes place throughout all of 2026. From January through December, Fulton County Library System will celebrate reading with monthly themes, programs, and experiences designed to connect our community through books all year long.
No library card is required to take part in many Year of the Book activities. Everyone is welcome to attend programs, explore displays, and enjoy the celebration at their local library.
That said, having a Fulton County Library card makes it even easier to participate. A card gives you full access to books and materials in every format, including print, eBooks, and audiobooks, so you can make the most of each monthly theme.
Schools, educators, and community groups are encouraged to participate and partner with us throughout the Year of the Book. There are many ways to get involved, from aligning classroom or group reading with monthly themes to hosting visits, programs, or collaborative events at your local library.
Libraries can also support educators and organizations with book recommendations, resources, and outreach opportunities that connect reading to learning and community engagement. To explore partnership ideas or request support, reach out to your local Fulton County Library or visit our website for upcoming opportunities.
