A Recap of Dewey and Deci Week at Central Library

2026 marked the beginning of the new year and refreshing initiatives at our libraries at the Fulton County Library System. We kicked of The Year of The Book, a year-long campaign designed to foster community through shared stories, new mascots, and themed monthly events. Read more about the Year of the Book campaign here, opens a new window. Our new mascots, Dewey the Dog and Deci the Cat, were introduced and celebrated during Dewey and Deci Week from January 26 through January 31st. During this time, patrons of all ages could win prizes and attend a host of programs, such as scavenger hunts, library tours, crafting, costume competitions, and more.

Here at Central Library's Youth Services department, we partied hard! Families were invited to dance like Dewey and Deci and the Dewey and Deci Dance Party, opens a new window on January 28th. We laughed, chatted, and danced to irresistible tunes (the Cha-Cha Slide!). For the duration of the week, families who visited the children's department could also complete the Spot Dewey and Deci Scavenger Hunt, opens a new window for prizes. We had 3 winners find nearly all of the mascots around the department.
