Book Review: Little Blue Truck by Alice Schertle

Book Review: Little Blue Truck by Alice Schertle, illustrated by Jill McElmurry

By Anne Angstadt, Alpharetta Library

Most little boys love trucks. My two year old son is obsessed with pickup trucks, so when I discovered Little Blue Truck, I knew it would become an instant favorite.

The story is about a friendly blue pickup truck who says, “Beep!” to all the animals that he passes. The animals respond with, “Croak, Moo, Neigh, or Oink,” depending upon who they are. An arrogant yellow dump truck passes through in hurry and gets stuck in the mud. Nobody but Blue will help him get free. When Blue gets stuck too, all his animal friends rush to rescue both trucks. This book reminds us to be nice to everyone no matter how busy we are. Parents will appreciate this simple message and toddlers will love all the animal noises.

This charming book is available on Hoopla as an ebook. If you want more Little Blue Truck adventures, Hoopla also has Little Blue Truck's Christmas in  English and Spanish, as well as Goodnight Little Blue Truck.
