Coding and Robotics with We Create Tech: Circuits

For February, We Create Tech worked in collaboration with Chip Kids with PBS Tennessee to learn about circuits and how to create one. A nice gateway project to encourage young people to learn more about STEM.

To help prepare them, they watch a tutorial video created by Chip Kids on how to build a circuit. To create a circuit, all you need is a battery, metal, and light bulb. To act as their metal, they used copper tape. First, the participants had to cut the copper tape into sections to make a connection to the battery to the light bulb. As a guide, they had a diagram to help place the tape down.

Despite multiple trials and errors, the participants were still persistent getting their bulbs to light up. A common problem was the copper tape because it is so delicate, the participants had to be careful not to accidentally ripe it or else the circuits wouldn’t work. Eventually, one by one, the kids all had bright lights to show off.
