Dewey & Deci Are Taking Over the Library this January!

Get ready for a week of reading, creativity, and a little extra fun. As part of The Year of the Book, we're excited to celebrate our new reading mascots, Dewey & Deci. Dewey & Deci Week, happening Monday, January 26 through Saturday, January 31, will be popping up at libraries across the county.

Getting to know Dewey & Deci

Dewey the Dog is energetic, curious, and always ready to jump into a new story. He loves action-packed reads, teamwork, and learning something new along the way.

Deci the Cat is thoughtful, creative, and rarely without a book or audiobook close by. She enjoys imaginative stories, reflective reads, and discovering hidden gems on the shelf.

Together, Dewey and Deci are your friendly guides for Year of the Book, helping readers of all ages explore stories, ideas, and discovery.

How to Join the Fun

Dewey & Deci Week is designed to be easy, playful, and open to everyone.

  • Color and Create: Pick up Dewey and Deci coloring sheets and bookmarks at your local library and add your own creative touch.
  • Dress Like Dewey or Deci: Come dressed as Dewey or Deci, think glasses, mascot colors, or your own creative spin, and receive a special Dewey & Deci keychain while supplies last.
  • Spot Dewey & Deci: Keep your eyes open around the library. Throughout the week, tiny Dewey and Deci cutouts will be hiding in plain sight. How many can you find?
  • Explore the Shelves: Some libraries may offer a Dewey & Deci shelf search activity, where kids can explore the library using Dewey Decimal numbers to help our mascots find their books.

You may also spot special Dewey & Deci activities or displays at your branch throughout the week.
