Dragon Con Meets Your Library Card, and It’s Kind of Perfect

Fulton County Library System Joins Forces with Dragon Con to Celebrate Reading

If you're a fan of sci-fi, fantasy, horror, comics, or basically anything awesome, we have news for you!

The Fulton County Library System has partnered with Dragon Con! Together, we're encouraging every reader, gamer, and genre fan in our community to take part in the Dragon Awards, one of the coolest fan-voted awards programs out there.

So what are the Dragon Awards?

Every year, Dragon Con, Georgia's biggest pop culture convention, held right here in Atlanta over Labor Day weekend, hands out awards chosen entirely by fans. No committees. No gatekeepers. Just people who love books, movies, games, and comics voting for the stuff they love most.

The awards launched in 2016 to celebrate Dragon Con's 30th anniversary, and they've only gotten bigger since. The best part? Anyone can participate. No membership, no ticket, no fee! Just an email address and your favorite book!

This year, fans can nominate and vote across 11 categories:

  1. Best Science Fiction Novel
  2. Best Fantasy Novel (Including Paranormal)
  3. Best Young Adult/Middle Grade Novel (Ages 12–18)
  4. Best Alternate History Novel
  5. Best Horror Novel
  6. Best Illustrative Book Cover
  7. Best Comic Book or Graphic Novel
  8. Best Science Fiction or Fantasy TV Series
  9. Best Science Fiction or Fantasy Movie
  10. Best Digital Game
  11. Best Tabletop Game

Here's where your library card comes in.

We have resources across nearly every single one of those categories. Physical books, e-books, audiobooks, graphic novels, comics, streaming services, and even physical DVDs and Blu-rays, you can check out for free! We also host tabletop and video gaming programs. So if you've been enjoying any of it lately, why not make your voice heard?

Here's how it works:
