Looking for your next read? Check out The Thing About Spring by Daniel Kirk, reviewed by Fulco Library staff, Kate L.
In this charming book about the arrival of Spring, author and illustrator Daniel Kirk introduces the readers to a rabbit who is very worried about Winter coming to an end and is saving a bucket full of snow. While all his friends are cheerful and bouncy that the warmth of spring days is here, Rabbit is counting all the ways that he’ll miss the snow and winter. His friends, Bird, Mouse and smelly old Bear (who wouldn’t be smelly after a long winter’s nap?!) tell him about all the good things that Springs brings hoping to cheer up the worrisome Rabbit. There will be long days to play and explore, and rain to bring the worms out or get clean in.
Finally, all this excitement makes the friends thirsty, and they toast the arrival of Spring with Rabbit’s melted snow. Even Rabbit, a bit reluctantly maybe, agrees to cheer the arrival of a new season. Hooray! Spring is here.
