A Yankee in Atlanta -

The story of the First Lending Library in Atlanta. Visit YouTube for the story of how transplant from Wisconsin, Darwin Jones and and group of 12 young men (including Eugene Mitchell, father of Margaret Mitchell) formed the Young Men's Library Association (YMLA). This small subscription library eventually became the Carnegie Library of Atlanta; the foundation of the Fulton County Library System. The original book collection from the YMLA resides in the Special Collections, Rare Book Room.
