The Next Gen A/V Camp kicked off on Monday, June 8th in the Best Buy Teen Tech Center, and has been been fruitful and fun for its first three weeks. Next Gen A/V Camp is an audio/video camp for teens ages 16 through 18 who are interested in A/V as a career or hobby. Read more about this camp here, opens a new window.
During the first class, the instructor, Wolfgang, provided a week-by-week overview of the camp; addressed expectations and rules; and introduced everyone to A/V technology and terminology. Participants also learned about the end-of-camp video project that we will be working toward in the coming weeks. During the second class, participants attended a hands-on workshop about video, where they learned about camera components and accessories, key terms, and types of visual shots. They also watched some example films showcasing how each visual shot can be used to tell a story in videos and films.
Wolfgang hosted class three in the auditorium- where his equipment is stationed- and introduced the participants to lighting and its importance in various types of visual media. Participants engaged in a brief lecture about lighting styles, lighting techniques, and types of lights and watched some film and music video examples showcasing how different lighting techniques, in combination with visual shots and staging, can be used to tell a story in videos and films. Then, they worked with Wolfgang to light the stage according to the lecture and their creative preferences. During breaktime, we had a karaoke session and used the lights to create a karaoke room! Check out all of the fun that everyone had in the photos below (click to enlarge).
Stay tuned for the upcoming weeks! At this time, registration for this camp is closed.
