Dedren Snead hosted Afrofuturism in Action at Central Library's Best Buy Teen Tech Center in June 2026 as a part of the system-wide Summer Reading Program. Snead is the CEO and founder of Subsume and a pioneering afrofuturist and creative technologist. Participants at this program crafted time capsules for themselves in future years. Snead prepared an exercise that guided participants in thought about their present and future and any differences or similarities they hope to see. The exercise challenged participants' creativity and critical thinking skills. Check out the inspiring time capsules that the youth created in the pictures below (click to enlarge).
