After months of renovations and enhancements, the Peachtree Library within the Fulton County Library System has reopened, better than ever! Residents gathered to celebrate the reopening of this beloved community hub, and the event was truly remarkable.
The Peachtree Library updates are designed to create a more enjoyable and functional space for everyone. Increased distance between the Children's and Adults' areas has helped establish a cozy and vibrant Children's space that is perfect for young readers. A dedicated Teens' area has also been introduced, equipped with collaboration technology and comfortable furniture, making it an inviting spot for teens to connect and work together. Half-height walls have been added to visually define the Children's and Teens' areas.
To reduce noise and create a more peaceful environment, the Adults' reading area has been moved further away from the Children's section while remaining close to the lovely full-height storefront windows that overlook the community and the museum space below. Additionally, new study rooms and a small conference room are now available, providing more options for private meetings or quiet study time. These changes are sure to enhance the library experience for all visitors!
The reopening ceremony took place on Thursday, September 4th, 2025, and began with a welcome from Gayle Holloman, the Director of the Fulton County Library System. Commissioners Dana Barrett, Bridget Thorne, and Khadijah Abdur-Rahman addressed the audience, sharing their enthusiasm for the newly renovated branch and its reopening to the public. They inspired attendees with thoughts on the importance of libraries and their impact on families and the community.

Al Collins, Administrator of the Bond Construction Department of Real Estate and Asset Management, thanked all the workers involved in the Peachtree Library restoration, as well as those who contributed to the other 33 libraries his team has worked on over the past 15 years. Also, he kept his speech under 10 minutes!
