ABOUT

The Special Collections Department supports the research needs of scholars, researchers, and genealogists from Fulton County and around the world.

Those research needs are met by providing controlled access to collections, including rare books, maps, photographs, archival and manuscript collections, as well as microforms, databases, and digital resources.

The Special Collections Department serves as the steward for the Fulton County Library System’s Georgia Collection, Genealogy Collection, Library Archives, Rare Book Collection, City Directories Collection, and the Margaret Mitchell Collection.

We welcome anyone with an interest to visit and use the collections.  If you have a specific topic of interest, or want to view anything in particular, please email us ahead of your visit so we can make sure the items are available for the best use of your time.

The Special Collections Department is open for walk-in research during regular business hours and closes one hour before the rest of the library.   Some collections are only available via appointment, including all archives collections.

Have a question or want to make an appointment?  Email us at: Central.SpecColl@fultoncountyga.gov
