Artist Biography/Statement

Krista M. Jones, also known as JONESY, is an Atlanta-based contemporary artist recognized for her vibrant murals and complex canvas paintings. Her multidisciplinary practice encompasses painting, works on paper, sculpture, animation, photography, music, and large-scale public art. Her current visual artwork explores cycles of life, transformation, and the parallels between inner and outer worlds through abstraction, symbolism, and shifting perspectives.

Jones holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Columbus State University and has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, Georgia Council for the Arts, the Gwinnett Creativity Fund, and the Laura Patricia Calle Grant. Her work has been exhibited nationally at venues including The Hudgens Center for Art & Learning, Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, LaGrange Museum of Art, Lawrenceville Arts Center, and Kai Lin Art. She has received public art commissions from notable clients including the City of Atlanta, Atlanta Beltline, Inc., Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), Livable Buckhead, Path Foundation and Living Walls, the City Speaks.

Her studio practice centers on a figurative abstract body of work and two evolving series: Bioforms and Woven. 

Bioforms consists of meditative works on paper inspired by microscopic biofilms, natural systems, and early stages of life. Woven is a series of soft sculptural reliefs inspired by aerial patchwork, inviting viewers to question the materials and processes behind their construction. These tactile forms explore texture, perception, vulnerability, and resilience.

During her residency at Central Artist Corner with the Fulton County Library System, visitors will witness the progression of these bodies of work and observe how a public-facing studio environment shapes the creative process while fostering experimentation, dialogue, and growth.

Krista's exhibition will be on display on the 1st floor at Studio C from May 27 through September 8, 2026.
