Picture Book Review: The Summer Nick Taught His Cats to Read by Curtis Manley & Kate Berube

Looking for your next read? Check out The Summer Nick Taught His Cats to Read by Curtis Manley & Kate Berube, reviewed by Fulco Library staff, Erin P.

Nick has two cats, Verne and Stevenson. One summer he decides to teach them how to read. Verne is very much into this idea and loves book about mice, fish, and other typical cat interests. Stevenson, however, has no interest in this plan and shows his reluctance by ignoring Nick’s attempts to teach him. Nick and Verne continue on with trips to the library, and eventually Stevenson starts to come around. This charming picture book has multiple starred reviews and is a great way to share a love of reading with the children in your life
