What’s New with Circulation – Library Book Ordering

The library’s contracted book vendor, Baker & Taylor, closed abruptly and unexpectedly this fall.

All of our outstanding on-order books with them, more than 1800 titles, were canceled. We are in the process of setting up a contract with another vendor. We will soon be able to order new titles in sufficient quantity to meet demand. We will also order books that were canceled when Baker & Taylor closed, and ones that were published during this in-between time with vendors.

Libby, opens a new window, Hoopla, opens a new window, and the Palace Project, opens a new window were not affected by the Baker & Taylor closure. New ebook and eaudiobook titles are constantly being added to those platforms.

We apologize for the inconvenience and extend wait times for books that this has caused.

1. Explore Our Digital Library

• Palace Project, opens a new window– Expanded ebook and audiobook collection with no wait times on many titles

2. Borrow Through Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

• Request titles from partner library systems when available.

3. Browse Our Shelves

• Popular titles are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

4. Check Out Older or Backlist Titles

• Many beloved reads are available with no wait times.

6. Try Alternate Formats

• Large print, audiobooks on CD, or DVDs may provide quicker access.

7. Ask a Librarian for Recommendations

• Staff can help find similar titles that are available right now.
