Picture Book Review: Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes by Eric Litwin

Looking for your next read? Check out Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes by Eric Litwin, reviewed by Fulco Library staff, Anne A.

Pete loves his new white shoes, but he keeps getting them dirty. He steps in blueberries, strawberries, and mud. Each item that he steps in changes his shoes to that color. At the end he steps in water and his shoes become white again. Pete doesn’t get upset when his shoes get dirty. He keeps walking along and singing his song:
I love my white shoes
I love my white shoes
I love my white shoes

Young children will love learning their colors as Pete’s shoes change color. They will also enjoy Pete’s simple silly song about his shoes. Older children and adults will appreciate the message of not worrying about the small things in life. The bright colors and simple pictures make this story a fun and easy read.
