Music Lab is a weekly session for teens to approve their musical talents with guidance from Georgia State University School of Music instructors. Each week, participants have learned how to use GarageBand and produce their own songs. Taking inspiration from various artists and genres, such as 80’s and 90’s pop and rap, they have made three songs so far.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own musical instruments. Unfortunately, musical instruments will not be provided. It’s not mandatory to have an instrument but would be highly appreciated.
What’s remarkable is the team effort. Despite the kids having wildly different tastes in music, the kids never let their differences divide them. If there was a dispute, they were able to handle it and make a compromise in the middle. Their songs are a perfect example of teamwork, and the songs show an aspect of all the attendees.
Music Lab is held on Fridays in July at the Best Buy Teen Tech Center from 11am to 1 pm. Come by and create music with us!
